Learn&PlayGroupTM volunteer
The Learn&PlayGroups™ are our main parent education activity. Rather than lecturing parents, we give them opportunities to play with their child and model appropriate interactions. Aimed at families with children 0-5 years old, Learn&PlayGroups™ are weekly and 90 minutes long. Volunteers assist with set up before playgroup and clean-up afterwards, requiring about 2.5-3 hours. We have about 10 playgroups at different locations throughout the City of Alexandria, from Monday through Thursday. We are looking for energetic volunteers who are able to commit to at least one playgroup and volunteer for at least 3-6 months, since another goal of the Learn&PlayGroup™ is to create community. A separate volunteer application is required, as well as a criminal background check. If you speak another language, that is a plus, but not necessary -- our families speak Dari, Arabic, Spanish, and many other languages.
