Help Bring Holiday Joy to Alexandria’s Children. Each year, more than 800 Alexandria families need help providing toys for their children during the holiday season. Since 2014, VolALX has brought our community together through an annual TOYS4ALX toy drive and distribution to ensure children in need experience the joy of receiving a holiday gift. In partnership with the City of Alexandria’s Fund for Alexandria’s Child Holiday Sharing Program, we invite the public to collect NEW toys, games, and sports items for families in need November 16 through December 11, 2026.

This year, our goal is to serve approximately 800 children ages 0–12. TOYS4ALX benefits our neighbors through the Fund for Alexandria’s Children’s Holiday Sharing Program; local agencies serving families in need; and low-income working families who may not be registered with an agency but are still struggling to make ends meet.

We believe that each child in our city should experience the delight of receiving and opening their very own holiday gifts. Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services helps hundreds of families a year meet their basic needs. Our goal is to serve all, which means we must collect 3500 items (each child receives four/five toys - big and small) to make their holidays as cheerful as possible. 

We need your help:

• Donate. Make a donation to help 100-plus volunteers sort, count, and distribute toys over three days. Donate online or write a check payable to Volunteer Alexandria. 
• Be a Sponsor. Your sponsorship helps cover essential costs: Providing space for the “shop”, cleaning and facility fees; holiday decorations and treats for families; Santa and photo booth expenses; wrapping paper, tape, and arts supplies.
• Be a collection site. Collect toys through a public collection receptacle or private collection (office or apartment building). Or, host a holiday party and collect toys and books. Register online.
• Donate a toy. Purchase a new toy or order online and ship it directly to us. Stay tuned to find a drop-off location near you.
• Volunteer. Volunteer as a team, individual, with your family, friends, or colleagues. Stay tuned for opportunities. 
• Donate goods (wrapping paper and tape). Stay tuned for details.

What should we collect/purchase? Please note we are unable to accept any used gifts, guns (Nerf guns, dart blasters), clothing for children 2 years old and up, food, or bikes.

Infants’ clothing is acceptable, educational toys, Baby items, onesies, sleepers, musical crib mobiles, interactive crib toys, rattles.

VolALX engages hundreds of people, including businesses, apartment complexes, congregations, schools, scout groups, and other social clubs, as well as numerous individuals who participate by setting up a toy collection bin, organizing holiday parties, donating money to help us put this all together and purchase materials and snacks for volunteers, getting friends and families involved, and volunteering. Since 2014, VolALX has implemented this toy drive to support Alexandria’s children. We support the Fund for Alexandria’s Children’s Holiday Sharing program and other agencies in need, as well as low-income working families not registered with an agency. Thank you to the donors, supporters & volunteers who made 2025's Toys4ALX event what it was!
