Volunteer Alexandria’s annual Community Toy Drive is in the process to be revamped due to COVID. Stay tuned for details.
About the Toy Drive: Volunteer Alexandria, in partnership with City of Alexandria’s Fund for Alexandria’s Child, invites the public to collect NEW toys, games, and sport items for families in need through mid December.
For most families, the holiday season is a time of cheer and festivity, games, toys, and teddy bears; but for some this is a season of worry and sadness when finances are tight and a family’s basic needs are often not met. Gifts and toys are far down the list of priorities.
At Volunteer Alexandria we believe that each child in our city should experience the delight of receiving and opening their very own holiday gifts. Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services helps hundreds of families a year meet their basic needs. We think those children also deserve toys for the holidays. Every year, approximately 300 families -- and 600 children – receive our help by collecting 2,400+ toys so that each child receives four toys - big and small - to make their holidays as cheerful as possible.
