The following organizations are in need of donations or other goods:
Donate Food
ALIVE! distributes free bags of groceries (produce, chicken, eggs, bread) at three locations, one Saturday per month.

Donate: Reusable bags, canned chicken and canned tuna in oil
Distributions: For City of Alexandria residents and local food pantries
Hours: Every day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays
Location: 801 S. Payne St., Alexandria
The Koinonia Foundation is accepting donations for pantry needs, including fruits, vegetables, salad dressing, jelly, condiments, dish and dishwasher detergents, toothpaste, soap, Dollar Tree gift cards, and more. Visit their website for more information.
Donate Gently or New Clothing
The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington accepts donations of clean and gently-used clothing and household items, including antiques, furniture, bric-a-brac, collectibles, and books at the Look Again Resale Shop on Old Town’s King Street in Alexandria, VA, or in Kensington, MD.
If you’d consider giving these items to family or friends, then they’re generally suitable as donations too. Please drop off clean items (free of any stains, tears and pet damage), intact and sellable in containers or bags of manageable size.
The Koinonia Foundation is accepting donations for winter clothing in adult and children's sizes. Koinonia currently cannot accept out-of-season clothing. Visit their website for more information.
ALX Closet is accepting donations for children and families in times of emergencies or crises. They are looking for children's clothing, toiletries, hygiene essentials, and baby products (e.g. diapers, wipes, formula).

Donate Items
Northern Virginia Family Services is hosting the Baby Love Drive on February 13 and 14 to collect diapers, wipes, and funds for infant nutrition needs. Help them reach their goal of 1,000 diapers and $1,000 to make sure babies in our community can be healthy, comfortable, and cared for.
Donate in person: Bring diapers (sizes 1-5) and wipes to a donation site on Friday, February 13, or Saturday, February 14.

Shop online: Purchase much-needed items from the Healthy Families Amazon Wish List.
Cornerstone Craftsman, a nonprofit based in Alexandria, is seeking these items for its new workshop space, where they teach 12 to 17-year-olds the skilled trades.

Help Collect Laundry Detergent for Families in the Community
The Alexandria Police Department is seeking laundry detergent for families struggling to make ends meet. You can drop the detergent off at 3600 Wheeler Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304 by June 26, 2025. For more information, contact Officer Anderson at zachary.anderson@alexandriava.gov

Friends of Guest House, a temporary home for women returning from incarceration, is seeking fall and winter clothing for its residents.
They are looking for layering items, pants, sweaters, sweatshirts, coats, and winter footwear.

Donate Books for Young Children. The Company of Books is collecting books for children, ages 5 and under. Donations can include board books, picture books, nonfiction for young children, and interactive books.
