Donate Food
ALIVE! distributes free bags of groceries (produce, chicken, eggs, bread) at three locations, one Saturday per month. For more information: ALIVE! Food Program. Donate: Reusable bags, canned chicken, and canned tuna in oil.
The Koinonia Foundation is accepting donations for pantry needs, including fruits, vegetables, salad dressing, jelly, condiments, dish and dishwasher detergents, toothpaste, soap, Dollar Tree gift cards, and more. Visit their website for more information.
Donate Gently Used or New Clothing
The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington accepts donations of clean and gently-used clothing and household items, including antiques, furniture, bric-a-brac, collectibles, and books at the Look Again Resale Shop on Old Town’s King Street in Alexandria, VA, or in Kensington, MD. If you’d consider giving these items to family or friends, they’re generally suitable for donation, too. Please drop off clean items (free of any stains, tears, and pet damage), intact and sellable in containers or bags of manageable size. View their current wish list
The Koinonia Foundation is accepting donations for winter clothing in adult and children's sizes. Koinonia currently cannot accept out-of-season clothing. Visit their website for more information.
ALX Closet is accepting donations for children and families in times of emergencies or crises. They are looking for children's clothing, toiletries, hygiene essentials, and baby products (e.g. diapers, wipes, formula). View the announcement for ALX Closet
Donate Items
Cornerstone Craftsman, a nonprofit based in Alexandria, is seeking items for its new workshop space, where they teach 12 to 17-year-olds the skilled trades: Conference table and 8 conference table chairs, Refrigerator, 4 to 6 Bean bag chairs, TV stand. Assemble Welcome Bags for Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC). When families move into AHC's affordable housing communities, they receive Welcome Bags filled with essential household supplies to say "welcome home." A large, sturdy, reusable tote bag with a square or rectangular base is ideal. For purposes of hygiene and dignity, they ask that all items be new, unopened and unused. Please make sure items fit into the bags and limit donations to the items listed below. Small 8-oz containers of liquids are best, since the bags can get quite bulky.
A complete bag includes: Dish soap (1), Hand soap (1), Bleach (1), All-purpose cleaner (1), Sponge (1), Plunger (1), Trash bags (1 box), Gloves (1 pair), Paper towels (1 roll), Toilet paper (2-4 rolls), Hand towel (1), Plastic shower curtains and hooks (1 set), Reusable tote bag (1), Reusable laundry bag (1) , Dustpan & mini broom (optional), Welcome home card (optional)

The Alexandria Police Department is seeking laundry detergent for families struggling to make ends meet. You can drop the detergent off at 3600 Wheeler Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304 by June 26, 2025. For more information, contact Officer Anderson at zachary.anderson@alexandriava.gov

Friends of Guest House, a temporary home for women returning from incarceration, is seeking fall and winter clothing for its residents. They are looking for layering items, pants, sweaters, sweatshirts, coats, and winter footwear. Donate Books for Young Children. The Company of Books is collecting books for children, ages 5 and under. Donations can include board books, picture books, nonfiction for young children, and interactive books.
