It is with heavy hearts that we share the death of Marian Van Landingham on April 4, 2026. She lived a remarkable life of service to Alexandria as an artist, politician, community leader, and the first Executive Director of Volunteer Alexandria. We honor her legacy through the Marian Van Landingham Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given to an Alexandria community member who has served this community consistently over his or her lifetime.
“On behalf of the Board of Volunteer Alexandria, we are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Marian Van Landingham, our organization’s first Executive Director. Although I did not have the privilege of knowing her personally, her legacy is woven into the very foundation of Volunteer Alexandria. Her vision, leadership, and dedication to civic life have shaped our mission and continue to inspire our work today. We honor her profound contributions to the Alexandria community and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.” Nicole McNally, Board Chair
