Presidential Volunteer Service Award
The President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) honors individuals (ages 5+) for performing an extraordinary amount of service to communities in the City of Alexandria. People who meet the following criteria can qualify for the PVSA:
- U.S citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
- Completes eligible service within a 12-month period or over a lifetime.
- Perform an unpaid act of volunteer service that benefitted others. Eligible service does not include donating funds, political lobbying, religious instruction, conducting worship service, proselytizing, volunteering as part of court-ordered community service, and serving only family members.

Points of Light administers the President's Volunteer Service Award and sets the criteria for it. Volunteer Alexandria became a certifying organization for the PSVA in 2024.
