Coach with Girls on the Run - Role Models Needed!
Transform lives with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia!
The impact of a Girls on the Run volunteer coach is as boundless as it is beautiful. Coaches work to support the Girls on the Run vision of a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
So lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of participants to be strong, confident, and healthy! Girls on the Run is a youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade that creatively integrates running and physical movement. Teams of volunteer coaches are trained to facilitate our easy-to-follow curriculum with small groups of participants twice a week over the course of an eight-week season.
You don't need to be a runner or a competitive athlete to coach! Successful coaches only need to serve as role models for girls by showing up prepared and on time, by listening attentively, and by demonstrating a positive attitude! GOTR NOVA encourages applications from minorities, people with disabilities, individuals who are bilingual and all other qualified applicants.
Coaches are required to commit to 2-3 hours per week for the season, with a few additional hours required for Coach Training and the GOTR NOVA season-ending 5K celebration. Practice schedules will vary based on the team.
GOTR’s Fall 2026 Season starts the week of September 21, 2026, and ends on November 23, 2026.
We have program sites at over 100 schools and community centers across the Northern Virginia region - so we are sure to find a location that works for you to volunteer!
