Join the Food4ALX Collection Crew - Summer Food Drive

Help fight food insecurity! Food pantries are depleted in the summer. VolALX is hosting its fourth annual Food4ALX and we need dedicated Collection Crew members to make this drive a success.

The Collection Crew (CC) helps us empty collection bins throughout the drive, which runs July 1^st - August 14th. Bins typically begin filling up around the second week. Plan to begin collecting around July 13th.

CC members need to have a valid driver's license, use their own vehicle (with insurance), be able to carry about 20 pounds of food using a crate, and be generally available during business hours. If this is you, please register.

How does it work:

• You'll receive a 30 minute orientation at the collection site in late June; we will contact you with time slot options.  At the orientation, you will meet the warehouse team, receive logistical details, and obtain your food transport crate. 

• You will be assigned one or two collection sites. Starting the week of July 13th, you will call your sites to check in and find out if a pick-up is needed.

  • If their box is filling up, you'll make a run. Head to the site, empty their collection bin, and deliver it to the warehouse to be weighed and distributed.

• Remain in contact through August 14th, checking in weekly.

• For the final pick-up, you will also retrieve the collection bin from the site.

Our goal is to collect 40,000 pounds of food for Alexandrians. Let’s make this happen!
