Summer Food Drive Team Captain

Volunteer Alexandria is seeking Team Captains for its summer food drive to benefit ALIVE. Team Captains would be responsible for coordinating with a site and their lead to schedule a pickup and delivery to the ALIVE Food Warehouse. If a box at a site is full, Team Captains pickup the box and drop them off at ALIVE. Pickups at collection sites are between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Currently, the shelves at ALIVE’s food pantries are becoming alarmingly bare. Our goal is to collect 30,000 pounds of food for 2,000 area families. This drive aims to address the urgent need for food as the number of families in need has increased 10 fold over the past 3 years.
Must be able to carry 25 pounds (one crate full with canned food). The first pick up is scheduled for July 16 and last pick up scheduled to be on July 31. Must have a valid driver license and vehicle with insurance. No reimbursements are available. Interested volunteers must attend a 45-minute orientation at the ALIVE Warehouse on either Thursday, June 20 (5:30 p.m.) or Wednesday, June 26 (11:30 a.m.)
