CERT - Community Emergency Response Team - Interest in Training
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates you to prepare yourself, your family, and your community to address hazards that may impact the City of Alexandria and to respond to emergency situations. Learn basic disaster response skills such as damage assessment after a disaster, triage and giving first aid to victims, extinguishing small fires, performing light search and rescue, and how to provide much needed assistance in times of crisis! When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders by providing immediate assistance to victims and organizing spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT volunteers also participate in non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.
Classes are held in Spring and Fall. Classes are held over 7 weeks, one evening a week. After that, there is a Saturday session for practical exercises and graduation. If you'd like to be notified when registration opens, just fill out and submit this form.
This training is open to people who live, work, volunteer, or own a business in the City of Alexandria. If you do not, we can put you in touch with other jurisdictions that offer CERT training, such as Arlington County or Fairfax County.
Thank you for your interest in Alexandria CERT!
