Teach ESOL to Adults in Alexandria {Volunteer Orientation}
Can you imagine being unable to read this website, a street sign, instructions on a bottle of medicine, or even a note from your child's teacher? Have you ever wanted to make a real difference in the community? By volunteering with the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, you can change the lives of adults who want to develop basic reading, writing, and English speaking skills. With the help of volunteers who serve as teachers, class aides, tutors and testers, the Literacy Council is able to teach hundreds of English language learners at these sites in Alexandria:
- John Adams Elementary School
- Lincolnia Senior Center
- Sherwood Regional Library
- William Ramsay Recreational Center
Prior teaching experience is not required to get involved -- training, curriculum, and support will be provided! To learn how you can get involved, come to LCNV's next Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00am at the James Lee Community Center.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:18+
