Community Toy Drive & Distribution 2023

Every year, hundreds of local children need toys, books, and learning games. Since 2014, VolALX hosts a community toy drive to support the children in Alexandria and we need your help. Our goal is to serve over 600 children this year, age 0 - 10-year-olds with NEW UNWRAPPED toys. The drive starts on Nov. 14 and ends on Dec. 14. If you would like to become a sponsor and/or donate toys, visit our website. Volunteers MUST be free of any flu/cold symptoms and MUST register for any of the following positions:

Runners to perform multiple tasks and ensure the toy drive is running smoothly throughout the day. Sat., Dec. 16 from 12 noon - 2 p.m. and from 2 -4 p.m. 18 and older.

 Sorting and counting toys on Friday, Dec. 15 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Volunteers will empty all bags and boxes, sort by age groups, then count items. 6 and older.

 Preparing toys for parents to pick out on Sat., Dec. 16 from 8:15-11 a.m. Volunteers will pack items according to each shift and number of children being served by shift and set up the gym like a store.

Bi-lingual (Spanish) door monitors to let adults into the room and explain process, and collect their letter before exiting. Sat., Dec. 16 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 1:45 -4:45 p.m. 21 and older.

 Helpers to support adults shop for their children on Sat., Dec. 16 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 1:45-4:45 p.m. 16 and older.

Spanish and Amharic Speaking Helpers needed to support adults shop for their children on Sat., Dec. 16 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 1:45 -4:45 p.m. 16 and older.

 Kid's Corner Volunteer – Volunteers are needed to entertain children with various activities so adults can shop on Sat., Dec. 16 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sat., Dec. 16 from 1:45 -4 p.m. 14 and older. The Kids's Corner is sponsored by United Bank.

 Gift Wrapping – Volunteers will set up station, wrap gifts, and assist adults who like to wrap their items. Volunteers must be able to wrap items of all sizes. Sat., Dec. 16 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sat., Dec. 16 from 1:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m. 12 and older.

 Table Captains are needed to stock the tables with toys according to each shift and assist adults picking out gifts. Volunteers will keep tables organized and clean to create a great shopping experience. Sat., Dec. 16 from 12-4 p.m. 16 and older.
