Organization Profile

ALIVE! is the oldest and largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. An interfaith organization, ALIVE! has grown to 50 member congregations. ALIVE! serves thousands of individuals each month, providing food assistance through our food bank, transitional shelter, financial help, eviction prevention, and furniture & housewares. Our services include:

    • Food Assistance for Alexandria City residents through pop-up distribution events, ALIVE! Food Hubs, and last Saturday distributions
    • Family Assistance Program helps low-income families pay rent and utility bills.
    • ALIVE! House transitional shelter moves women and families out of homelessness to permanent housing.
    • Housewares & Furniture Programs supply households with home essentials.
