IT Volunteer at Liberty's Promise
Liberty's Promise (www.libertyspromise.org) is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income, immigrant youth, ages 15-21, through our after-school programs of civic engagement and professional internship program. We are currently seeking a volunteer to help us take inventory of the technology in our Alexandria office. The chosen candidate will gain a unique insight into how data is archived and maintained within the nonprofit sphere. Weekly hours are flexible based on volunteer availability. The position is open until filled.
Position Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
● Checking the functionality and assessing the capabilities of computers, laptops, and other electronic devices around the office
● Sorting through and organizing archived digital files, deleting non-essential data and assessing storage used
● Transferring essential or relevant files from old devices into storage or onto newer devices when appropriate
● Troubleshooting problems with technology that is non-functional or has impaired performance
● Taking inventory of office devices and assigning serial numbers to each
● Establishing a system for keeping track of office technology and its functionality
● Contacting external IT contacts when necessary
Position Qualifications:
● Understanding of older computers, PCs and laptops (e.g., Dell PCs, Samsung laptops, etc.)
● Ability to accurately troubleshoot and address technological issues as they arise
● Communication skills and ability to accurately describe technological problems to staff members and supervisors
● Comfortable working in a small office environment
● Comfortable working independently
● Problem-solving and flexibility
Compensation and Benefits: This is an unpaid position. Hours are flexible.
