Tutor K-5 Students After School

Volunteer Opportunity for Afterschool Tutoring with Alexandria City Public Schools Students at Brent Place Apartments Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) seeks volunteers interested in supporting students in grades K-5 by providing one-on-one tutoring in reading and math as part of the ACPS afterschool Link Club program based at Brent Place Apartments (Brent Place). This program provides Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School students with academic, social-emotional and enrichment activities outside of school hours. Link Club Room Leads will identify students in the Link Club program who would most benefit from the individual tutoring, and supplemental work activities will be used to reinforce classroom lessons. This volunteer activity will begin in October 2024 and volunteers are asked to sign up for at least one one-hour “tutoring power hour” per week. Two tutoring hours are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (3:30-4:30 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.) and a 3:30-4:30 p.m. tutoring hour on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please note that advance approval from the school division is required to be an ACPS volunteer. For the safety of students and staff, all volunteers working with students must first submit an ACPS volunteer application, go through a background check and obtain approval from the school division.
