Cyber Security Summer Camp Assistant Instructor 2024

Join Us in Inspiring Future Innovators at the Fly Minds Cyber Security Summer Camp!

The camp will serve students 13-18 years old teaching students how to recognize cyber threats and how to protect themselves and others.

The camp will be held from July 8-12, 11am-2pm at the William Ramsay Recreation Center, 5650 Sanger Ave, Alexandria, VA 22311.
 

At Fly Minds, we're on a mission to inspire and educate underserved youth by providing enriching STEM programs led by engineering professionals. Now, we're calling on passionate volunteers like you to help us make a difference.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

• Participate in course planning, including development of educational and training materials
• Assist the head instructor with providing the children with a "prepared environment" by performing classroom setup (may include help with equipment setup and testing)
• Prepare workshop materials per the guidance of the head instructor
• Assist students with the use of equipment and classroom activities
• Maintain session roster for children and keep the paperwork in well-organized files for the coordinator or supervisor.
• Engage with students by being encouraging, helping and patient. A joyful attitude and positive presence will help set the appropriate learning atmosphere.

Desired Skills/Traits

• Experience working with computers, basic knowledge of cybersecurity, and familiarity with virtual machines
• knowledge of current trends in IT
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite of products (EXCEL, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work effectively with students 13- 18 years in age
• Ability to work well in a collaborative and team environment
• Communicate and demonstrate a standard of excellence and proactive problem-solving that sets an example for others
