Fixit/Repair Clinic at Beatley Library

The Beatley Branch Library is seeking volunteers to join in our first Fixit Clinic on July 9th. What is a "Fixit Clinic"? It's an opportunity to help your neighbors, teach skills for living all while keeping items out of the landfills and pushing against throwaway culture. The library is looking for skilled professionals and amateur craftspeople who work within the categories of small appliances, furniture, computers, electronics, clothing, jewelry, book and paper, bicycle repair and blade sharpening. "Repair coaches" not only will attempt to fix the items brought in, but will work with visitors to explain the process or encourage owners to attempt repairs themselves. A good repair coach is curious, collaborative and patient with good communication skills. The time commitment would be three to four hours between the hours of 11 AM and 3 PM, not including set up and break down. If you are interested or know someone who may be a good fit, please express interest. We will also be looking for volunteers to guide people to stations and help out in other ways.
