Volunteers for Call Center & Outreach Efforts

The Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a team of medical and non-medical volunteers who are trained and ready to respond to emergencies that impact public health, such as disease outbreaks, bioterrorist events, or natural disasters. MRC volunteers use their unique skills to serve the community and are critical to supporting the Alexandria Health Department’s mission to advance “Healthy People, Healthier Communities.” The Alexandria MRC is part of a national network of MRC units that serve to strengthen our nation’s public health, improve emergency response capabilities, and build community resiliency.
In response to COVID-19, new volunteers are urged to join Alexandria MRC to help with staffing the call center and conducting community outreach to our most vulnerable populations. Training will be provided. Once you have expressed interest Alexandria MRC will be in touch to schedule training and the next steps on how to volunteer. 
Before you volunteer in person, please ensure:
- That you have you NOT been at any places and therefore exposed where people have tested posted for COVID-19? If so, do not volunteer.
- That you DO NOT exhibit any symptoms of a respiratory illness including fever, runny nose, sore throat, coughing or difficulty breathing now or in the past 24 hours? If so, do not volunteer.
All volunteers who are at high risk of severe disease or who have someone in their household who is high risk (this includes persons who are age greater than 65; have underlying heart disease or lung disease, diabetes, liver disease; are immunocompromised, on dialysis, or have severe obesity with BMI greater than 40) should NOT volunteer.
