Become a Volunteer Lead for Emergencies
Please note, all Volunteer Leaders will be trained throughout a 12-months period, and we ask to be available for up to 3 hours per month for training, exercises, and fun activities. Sessions are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The VRC serves as a vehicle to quickly register, train, and deploy spontaneous volunteers to meet City disaster response and recovery efforts safely and efficiently. Efforts may include cleaning streets from debris and rubble, assisting moving people to a secure location, cutting down trees, serving meals, setting up shelters, etc.
Volunteers Leaders are needed to help our staff manage the VRC and positions include greeters, data entry, trainers, interviewers, section managers, and more. Depending on the disaster, hundreds of people may need to be screened and deployed over a period of several days. Click HERE to review roles and responsibilities. Roles will be assigned at the first or second meeting.
Volunteer Leaders need to be able to commit and be ready to assist when VRC is activated. No prior emergency management experience is required.
