4-H Nature & Animal Club Volunteer
The mission of 4-H at large is to help young people find their spark, build real world skills, and become resilient, adaptable, lifelong learners. The 4-H Nature & Animal Club serves youth ages 5-14 and provides engaging and enriching learning activities and experiences about our natural environment and the animals that inhabit it. Through 4-H, club members are also encouraged to build up their leadership, public speaking, and community service skills. We are looking for additional volunteers to support the current club leaders and members.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise youth in club meetings
- Encourage, mentor, and be a positive role model for all youth members
- Maintain club schedule
- Help facilitate curriculum/learning goals
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- Desire to help youth succeed
- Be able to step back and let youths lead
- Interest and passion in ANY subject matter that you're willing to share, particularly environmental and/or animal science
- Patience
Time Commitment:
- Club meetings occur once monthly for a two-hour session
- One club leader meeting monthly to prepare for the club meeting
- Occasional club competitions, events, trainings, and/or outings
Other Information:
- Volunteers need to go through a screening process, which includes a background check and leader training
