Opportunity Details
Teen Study Hall Volunteer
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00-5:00pm, August 29th- December 15th (you can sign up mid-semester!), this opportunity is also great for a group seeking to come together.
Responsibilities: Homework assistance for middle and high school students. For the sake of consistency for our students, we prefer volunteers able to make a weekly commitment.
Training and support provided: volunteer orientation, child protection policy/abuse prevention training, on-going learning opportunities about immigration and supporting young people. Connection and support from staff.
Additional notes
Casa Chirilagua is a faith-based organization. As a faith-based not-for-profit, we openly offer Christian education at our programs. It is not a requirement to subscribe to a certain faith to volunteer, but we do suggest only those comfortable with open Christian teaching to volunteer.
Being bilingual is a plus but not necessary, most of our students' first language is spanish but most also speak english. Most come from Central American households and are either 1st or 2nd generation immigrants.
Requirements: volunteer application with two references and background check (we ask for a $20 donation to offset this cost to Casa Chirilagua)
Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:18+
