Youth Engaged In Service (YES) Lead for Students in Alexandria
VolALX’s Youth Engaged in Service (YES) promotes civic responsibility and recognizes community service. We offer ongoing activities for children, youth, and their families. Our service-learning program engages students - grades 6 through 12 and offers a chance to learn about the issues facing their community and to do something about it. Participants will engage with non-profits, city agencies, and people from all walks of life as they earn service hours and explore career paths.
We engage students from all public and private schools in Alexandria, or home-schooled residents to become a YES Lead. Youth voices and input would help us determine what’s important and relevant for youth; expand the network of youth engaged in service; share ideas and help plan and create new programming; engage and mobilize peers to act; assess the city's volunteer needs for youth; and can improve how and what VolALX do to engage youth.
