Matching volunteers with organizations in need of help
“Volunteer Alexandria is an organization that links individual volunteers with local nonprofit organizations and volunteer opportunities.
By partnering with other nonprofits, government agencies and the corporate community, Volunteer Alexandria works to address issues that can be improved in the city through volunteering. Volunteer Alexandria’s youth program helps teachers and students find volunteer opportunities and cultivates nonprofit, city agencies, and faith groups that are interested in working with youth volunteers.
In addition to facilitating volunteerism on a regular basis, the organization is also the lead agency for the recruitment and management of otherwise unaffiliated volunteers during emergencies. Volunteer Alexandria coordinates with local fire departments to offer regular emergency response training seminars to increase disaster readiness and support first responders.”
