CERT - Community Emergency Response Team - Interest In Training

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates you to prepare yourself, your family, and your community to address hazards that may impact the City of Alexandria and to respond to emergency situations. Learn basic disaster response skills such as damage assessment after a disaster, triage and giving first aid to victims, extinguishing small fires, performing light search and rescue, and how to provide much needed assistance in times of crisis. When emergencies happen, CERT volunteers can give critical support to first responders by providing immediate assistance to victims and organizing spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT volunteers also participate in non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community. Classes are held in Spring and Fall, and you will be notified when class registration is open.  Classes are held over 6-7 weeks one evening a week. After that, there is a Saturday session for practical exercises and graduation.  You may take the course just to learn or, by meeting a few additional requirements, become a CERT volunteer. Thank you for your interest in Alexandria CERT!
