Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Fall 2019 Class

Thank you for your interest in the Fall 2019 CERT Course!

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates you to prepare yourself, your family, and your community to address hazards that may impact the City of Alexandria and to respond to emergency situations. Learn basic disaster response skills such as damage assessment after a disaster, triage and giving first aid to victims, extinguishing small fires, performing light search and rescue, and how to provide much needed assistance in times of crisis! When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders by providing immediate assistance to victims and organizing spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also participate in non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.
Classes will take place each Thursday night (7:00 PM - 10:00 PM) beginning October 10 and through November 21, plus the practical exercises and graduation on Saturday, November 23 (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM). The program is open to anyone 18 or older who lives, works, or owns a business in the City of Alexandria. Most classes will take place at the Office of Emergency Management (in the Sheriff's Public Safety Center) 2003 Mill Road, Room 3200, Alexandria, VA 22314. If a class session is to meet at a different location, you will be notified in advance.

You MUST REGISTER before attending class. The deadline to sign up for the Fall 2019 CERT class is October 2, 2019.

All participants are required to attend all classes and the final exercises. Please make sure to add all the classes to your calendar. Classes will be held on the following dates:

If you will be unable to attend classes this Fall, another class will be held next Spring. Dates will be published after the Fall 2019 CERT class graduates.
