Holiday Toy Distribution

Several positions available, volunteers will be matched on the day to positions depending on interest and skill.
Guides: Volunteers needed to escort families and provide assistance when picking out the toys for their children. Families will provide a letter indicating the number, sex and age of their children. Toys are sorted by age and volunteers will guide the parent/s to the appropriate table and encourage them to pick out toys. Spanish speakers needed as well.
Runners: Every recipient family is assigned a time slot and a certain number of toys is allotted for distribution during each time slot. Volunteers aneeded to re-stock the tables after every time slot has ended and before the next time slot begins.
Table Captains: Will ensure that tables are not filled before last family for a time slot makes their selection and keep the tables neat, clean and organized. Each table captain will be in charge of an age group. Volunteers should be outgoing and positive, as well as being able to instruct other volunteers and delegate tasks.
Gift wrap: Volunteers needed to help parents wrap their presents and keep the area neat and organized.
Children's Photo Opportunity & Activities: Volunteers needed to help with a Santa photo opportunity, children's activities, supervise children and make sure they are safe.
The last shift will assist in packing up left over toys and cleaning the space.
Volunteer Alexandria is hosting this event in partnership with the Alexandria City Department of Community and Human Services. The annual Holiday Community Toy Drive, which will approximately serves 300 families and 700 children engages volunteers 6 and older.
The community toy drive runs from November 13 through December 12 and if you are interested in collecting toys, please email mbrunken@volunteeralexandria.org.
FAMILY & GROUP VOLUNTEERING: If you will volunteer with your family or as a group, please use the 'Or Sign Up With a Team' function at the bottom to sign up your entire family or group. The 'Team Leader' will just need to enter the names and ages (if under 18) of everyone in your group. This will let us know how many volunteers will be with us.
