Talk about starting the New Year with a bang! Volunteer Alexandria is thrilled to have been selected as one of the recipients of the Hilton Alexandria Old Town.

In early July, the hotel announced it would give away a $10,000 meeting to help stimulate the local Alexandria economy."In this turbulent economic climate it was the hotel’s mission to give back to those in the community who were not just surviving, but thriving in the current economy," said General Manager Kevin Brockaway.  "Their mission was to find one company that was planning a meeting critical to stimulating future business for their company, a meeting that benefited the local Alexandria economy, or to reward an organization with deep local and national charitable roots."

Volunteer Alexandria was selected as one of three finalists out of over 120 applications, with our proposal to use the Hilton prize to kick-off an Alexandria Business Cares program with trainings for businesses on how to develop corporate volunteer programs that will them meet their own corporate mission as well as make an impact in their community.

At the presentation event, the Hilton Alexandria announced that they were increasing their donation from $10,000 to $25,000, giving contributing money to each of the three finalists, including grand prize winner Volunteers of America and finalist For Goodness Sake, Inc! Volunteers Alexandria is grateful to Hilton Alexandria Old Town for helping to make our meeting dreams a reality.
