RSVP Engagement Leaders represent RSVP-Northern Virginia and the local volunteer centers at community events, volunteer fairs, and service projects. As ambassadors for community service, RSVP Engagement Leaders promote meaningful opportunities for individuals ages 55+ to get involved. Volunteer Income Tax Assistant Info Session (VITA)
Northern Virginia families with low-income need your help in preparing their tax returns and assisting the program as greeters, screeners, Spanish translators and/or IT support. Join the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program 2017 now! Multiple locations are available throughout Northern Virginia for volunteers. We are hosting an orientation with VITA so you can learn what it means to be a volunteer tax preparer and to get started with your training. Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) provides a monthly Speaker Series, which offers topics of interests to seniors, including legal issues, financial literacy, health-care education, retirement planning and more. Senior Services of Alexandria's 11/17 Speaker Series: Living a Purpose-Filled Life: Connecting Mind, Body and Spirit to Obtain Optimal Health. A workshop that explores new approaches to healthcare challenges, including stress management, chronic illness, pain, whole person care and overall well-being. Senior Academy – Calling all Seniors 60+

Senior Services of Alexandria is partnering with the City of Alexandria on Senior Academy, a four-week course designed to provide Alexandria’s seniors with an opportunity to gain exposure to the City’s various government functions, learn about local organizations that provide services and programs for our senior community, and help seniors get involved!  Enrollment is limited to 25 City residents ages 60 and older. 

The Academy is a free program with light refreshment each week.  A special graduation ceremony will take place during a City Council meeting at City Hall in October. The topics included are: Getting to know your City; How you can Make a Difference; City Services for Seniors;  Community Resources and Leisure, Cultural and Educational Opportunities.  To learn more or to register for the Senior Academy, you can download the application at or call 703-836-4414, ext. 110.
